Good Friday is the second part of the Triduum (the sacred three days). This most somber of all days is appropriately marked by fasting, abstinence, and penitence, leading us to focus on the Lord Jesus and the meaning of his Cross.
This time of social distancing and sheltering-in-place has provided us, the Church and the world, a powerful and at times, stark reminder of the solemnity and sorrow of the day the Lord of Life was rejected, mocked, scourged, and then put to death on the Cross.
The faithful are reminded of the role which their own sin played in this suffering and agony, as Christ took all sin upon himself, in obedience to his Father’s will. By the Cross we are redeemed and set free from bondage to sin and death. The Cross is a sign of God’s never-ending love for us. It is a sign of life, in the midst of death.
We offer below, two curated experiences to help guide you through this day - You can either pick between them or utilize them both since it is common on Good Friday to have multiple, different services.
The Crucifixion of Jesus
Below is an audio worship resource from Fernando Ortega that journeys through the themes of Holy Week with familiar hymns and readings.

The Golgotha Experience
Below, is a video resource from Poor Bishop Hooper that goes through the Scriptural Stations of the Cross with original music, scripture and art.

The Golgotha Experience for small screens
Recommendations for “The Golgotha Experience”
If you are able, view the video on a large screen and listen through a home theater sound system.
Set some ambient lighting to create a somber/sacred space.
Each sung musical piece has a transitional sound setting/segue - allowing space for the readings of scripture, prayer and reflections from the booklet.
Lastly, if you are able, pull the booklet up on a smart phone or tablet - reading as you follow along with the music and video.

We are providing a variety of At-Home Worship Resources for Holy Week.

The Paschal mystery—the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ—is at the heart of the Christian Gospel. The somber evening of Maundy Thursday begins a single liturgy of several services which culminate with rejoicing on Easter Sunday.
The word "Maundy" comes from the Latin word for commandment which occurs in John 13:34 in the context of the Last Supper – "A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another." At the Last Supper, Jesus washed his disciples’ feet and commanded them to love and serve one another as he had done. This day commemorates the Lord’s example of servant ministry, the institution of the Eucharist, the agony in the Garden of Gethsemane, and the betrayal leading to the crucifixion.
